Overview

Verathon® is looking for an Manager, Sustaining Engineering to become the newest member of our R&D Team located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of world class engineers and technicians to enhance and sustain our portfolio of medical products, applications, and accessories.

Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities:

·       Lead a team of world class engineers and technicians to improve and sustain our latest medical products, applications, and accessories.

·       Provide strong technical direction and functional leadership

·       Develop a deep understanding of products and enabling technologies

·       Engage in technical problem solving that affects product design, production, and availability

·       Manage an engineering team from resource and budget planning to professional development, etc.

·       Continuously improve team performance by setting objectives, priorities, and removing obstacles

·       Enable the staff to operate efficiently and reach their full potential

·       Accountable for setting expectations, including the output and quality of work produced by the team

·       Contributes to the development of the product lifecycle roadmap

·       Assess skillset needed by project, allocates resources, and manages active projects

·       Advise management on best practices to improve design quality and development efficiency

·       Stay current on emerging technologies to advance medical device designs using appropriate materials and methods

·       Provide mentoring and coaching to team leads and staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required; Master’s or MBA is preferred
  •  6+ years of product development experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2+ years’ people management experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration preferred
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in key functional area
  • Proven ability to solve cross-functional problems within project teams
  • Capable of leading and developing a group of highly qualified engineering professionals
  • Experience in developing product and processes using knowledge of customer needs, technology, and business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in medical device or other highly regulated industry is preferred

 

Salary range - $94,000 - $137,000  (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).

 

Full-time employees who are not on a commission plan are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
