Overview

The Software Engineer III is responsible for contributing to fundamental and architectural design of systems.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply technical principles, theories, and concepts
• Take on complete design and implementation on all phases of product development including debugging and unit testing
• Participate in project planning and ensures assigned tasks are completed according to schedule
• Complete software requirements, specifications, and design documentation
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Communicate complex tasks across different functions and programs
• Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
• Maintain and support Software Repository and Build Server
• Maintain and support existing software/firmware products
• Support manufacturing to ease and streamline the manufacturing process
• Uphold the VMCA Company Mission and Culture Statement
• Ensure consistent professional communications with all VMCA team members
• Support VMCA’s Quality Management System that establishes and maintains effective quality assurance processes and compliance to standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent is required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • P.Eng from the EGBC preferred; ability and willingness to obtain a P.Eng license required*
  • 5+ years of professional experience with at least one of C, C++, and Java
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build and release processes
  • Experience developing, modifying, and porting software for embedded platforms is an asset
  • Knowledge of Linux OS and command line tools
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies like Agile and Kanban is preferred
  • QT experience is preferred
  • Experience writing Unit Tests and Static Analysis of Software Code
  • Experience with test automation frameworks is preferred
  • Experience working with Software Repository and Build Servers is preferred
  • Detail oriented, well organized and interested in the latest technology
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

For applicants without an Engineer in Training or a Professional Engineer license, an alternative title will be used until a license is obtained.     • Salary range - $101,000 – $145,000  (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).
