Overview

Verathon® is looking for a Test Engineer to become the newest member of our R&D Verification Test Engineering team located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The Test Engineer is responsible for supporting new product development (NPD) programs by delivering product design verification (DV). This role closely interacts with other cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and program management.

Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage and complete DV activities for NPD programs
  • Complete DV activities for product lifecycle management (e.g., shelf-life and chemical compatibility)
  • Provide DV support in early program phase, e.g., requirements review, sample sizes, and verification test timeline
  • Generate DV plans, protocols, and reports against product requirements
  • Design, build, and release engineering test methods and test fixtures to verify requirements
  • Collaborating with Test Supervisor, oversee test execution by a team of Design Verification Testers
  • Liaise with certified test labs (e.g., CSA) to manage external verification testing
  • Collaborate with design engineers and cross-functional teams to analyze product test failures and recommend solutions
  • Perform statistical analysis on test data to verify desired confidence and performance levels
  • Organize and present adequacy reviews on design verification deliverables
  • Gain competency in applicable standards, e.g., ISO 10993, ISO 8600, and CSA IEC 60601-1
  • Identify, communicate, and initiate improvements to the verification test system
  • Ensure completion of tasks within project schedule with high attention to detail
  • Provide critical updates to the team including Engineering Managers & Program Managers
  • Follow Verathon’s Quality Management System and documentation practices

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·        Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, mechatronics, or similar)

·        2+ years test engineering experience in a product development environment

·        Strong analytical foundation suited for problem-solving in an engineering environment

·        Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems and root cause analysis

·        Experience utilizing statistical techniques & reliability calculations, preferably using Minitab

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Proficient in writing concisely and accurately with meticulous attention to detail and clarity

·        Ability to work within tight deadlines with transparent communication

·        Hands-on experience with SolidWorks and microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino)

·        Experience in medical devices or other highly regulated environment preferred

·        Familiarity with applicable standards (e.g. CSA IEC 60601-1, ISO 10993, ISO 8600) preferred

·        Registration with EGBC as EIT preferred*

 

*if not EIT or P.Eng, job title will be Test Specialist II

 

Salary range – CDN$70,090- 85,817 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location.  If this position is filled outside the Greater Vancouver, BC area, this salary range will vary depending on the specific hiring location.)

 

Full-time non-sales employees are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
